COVID-19 Coaching
As the National Governing Body for Taekwondo in the UK, British Taekwondo Council (BTC) regularly check the current restrictions and COVID-19 guidance issued by the UK and Devolved Administrations, as well as that of DCMS, Sportscotland, Sport Wales, Sport NI and Sport England, and provide updates to BTC Registered Instructors.
Further to the guidelines published in light of the National Lockdown, the most recent Sport England FAQs provide the following clarification regarding 1:1 coaching sessions in public outdoor spaces which is pertinent to our activities as BTC Registered Instructors, many self-employed, not permitted to operate other than online sessions indoors at home or in their gyms or dojangs due to their enforced closure. Many BTC Registered Instructors offer 1:1 sessions to ensure the safe, efficient learning and retention of skills, fitness, health and mental wellbeing for many students. BTC accreditation includes Enhanced DBS, Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance.
BTC would advise instructors that, in addition to the national and sports organisations advice and guidance, some local authorities enforce their own byelaws requiring consent and payment for the use of outdoor public spaces. BTC Registered Instructors are reminded of their responsibility to check and observe local rules in these circumstances.
