Team success in Korea

Team from UK

A team of eight representatives from the UK, including members of the UKTDC, recently took part in the Chungdokwan Summer Camp in Korea, culminating in their participation at the prestigious United Nations Korea Association World Peace Championships held at the renowned Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters. Representing the UK as part of the international Chungdokwan body—comprising over 20 nations—the team participated in a powerful demonstration at Kukkiwon, before competing in the main Poomsae event, all in temperatures approaching 40°C. The UK athletes performed exceptionally well, bringing home one gold, three silver, and three bronze medals.

The trip also included a series of high-level training experiences, such as sparring training at Seoul University under the guidance of a former world champion, self-defence training with the Korean Army, and a visit to the state-of-the-art Taekwondowon training complex. In addition, Senior UK Grandmasters met with Kukkiwon officials for formal discussions and a working lunch to help shape Kukkiwon’s future engagement and proposals for Taekwondo development in the UK. This unforgettable experience deepened both technical skills and international Taekwondo ties, further strengthening the UK’s presence on the global stage.
