Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-sup had a meeting with the Chairman of the National Assembly Park Byeong-Seug to discuss pending issues related to Kukkiwon and Taekwondo, and asked for active cooperation.
At 11 am on Friday, February 26, President Lee said in the office of the chairman of the National Assembly Building, “It is a shame that Kukkiwon, the headquarters of the National Sport Institute has been in poor environment” and added, “We ask for the National Assembly to have concern on Kukkiwon to be newly born as the place symbolizing leading the future by improving and rebuilding outdated facilities.
The Chairman of the National Assembly Park Byeong-Seug said “I am very happy to know that the former member of the National Assembly Lee Dong-sup who is recognized as the best for National Sports was elected as the President of Kukkiwon” and added, “I, myself as the Chairman of the National Assembly will make efforts to develop our Taekwondo as national sports.”
In the meeting, Kukkiwon Director Kim Ji-Suk and National Assembly member Hong Moon-pyo (the President of the Member of the National Assembly Taekwondo Federation) have also attended.
After discussing the pending issues, President Lee gifted a Taekwondo dobok (uniform) to the Chairman of the National Assembly Park Byeong-Seug.
Starting with meeting Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun on February 15, President Lee has continuously met with Gangnam-gu Mayor Jeong Sung-yun on February 24, and the Chairman of the National Assembly Park Byeong-Seug on February 26, continuing “Wide Steps” for the development of Kukkiwon.
