![]() LATEST DEVELOPMENT The UKTDC continue to be at the forefront of Taekwondo development in the UK as our numbers maintain a steady and productive growth. We request admittance into the BTC as Independent Kukkiwon style Taekwondo practitioners; talks are still ongoing with positive advancements being made. Further details will be published in the near future. As part of the process of attaining membership of the BTC and as part of the conditions of entry, we have been requested that all members of the UKTDC remove any reference or links to the WTF and the BTCB from their websites or publicity material. Our close relationship with the Kukkiwon is ongoing and we are pleased to announce that the UKTDC has attained Associate level status with the Kukkiwon; we are actively building the association in an attempt to achieve Kukkiwon SPECIAL status in the UK. Our officers continue to work with and promote the Kukkiwon activities; recently our Secretary general Master Chris Davies was appointed by the Kukkiwon as advisory board member for 2011. This is especially significant for Master Davies as it follows on from his appointment to the Kukkiwon Co-operation Committee in 2010. Our chairman received a commendation from Kukkiwon president Kang Won-Sik. Chairman Nigel Hudson has also recently been appointed as the President of Chungdokwan UK which is the UK's official Chungdokwan body. The appointment was made by Grand Master Uhm Kyu Woon the president of the World Chungdokwan Association. The UKTDC continue to send its Instructors on the Kukkiwon Foreign Instructors course and have qualified International Instructors for the past 3 years. Masters Chris Davies and Nigel Hudson accompanied a contingent to the Kukkiwon in July 2011. The UK Taekwondo Development Council (UKTDC) is a National organisation for Kukkiwon style Taekwondo which is fully committed to the development of Taekwondo from grass roots to elite levels in sparring, patterns and all aspects of the Martial Art. We are successfully reaching out to many instructors and students who have found the UKTDC to be an excellent vehicle and organisation to enable them to succeed and progress through our training, qualification and education programs. New year 2012 message from Kukkiwon President Kang Won Sik We welcome and invite all Kukkiwon style practitioners into membership, who wish to become involved with the development and promotion of Taekwondo without barriers and build upon our already notable progress in a rapidly changing Taekwondo culture. The core aim of the UKTDC is to establish a cohesive framework and network in which instructors and practitioners concerned with the development of Kukkiwon style Taekwondo within the United Kingdom can affiliate to for training, accreditation, insurance, competition, and support for all Taekwondoists in the UK. We are now one of the largest associations in the UK for this style of Taekwondo and our numbers continue to grow. At the helm of the UKTDC we have a number of very experienced people including some very high ranked Masters. The range of skills and knowledge from sports development professionals, accountants, marketing professionals, highly experienced Taekwondo practitioners and IT professionals are all at the disposal of the UK Taekwondo Development Council. The UKTDC is recognised as a kukkiwon registering body and one of only two major umbrella bodies for development of Kukkiwon style Taekwondo in the UK and was recently recognised by UK Sport as body to be involved in a consice situation paper on Taekwondo in the UK in which it states the UKTDC may provide a credible challenge to the established bodies. The UKTDC is now also registered with the Kukkiwon as part of the ongoing Kukkiwon overseas membership system KOMS. Check out our events page for details of our FULLY INSURED OPEN events.
